Faces of Tibetan China
in Black and White

I have visited Tibetan China, the part of China which was historically Tibet, and is populated mainly by ethnic Tibetans many times and even lived there. These are photos of people that I met on my first two trips, in 2001 and 2002.

You may notice a slight difference in tone between photos. That is because these are all shot on a Kodak film called T400CN. The film is processed C-41 like color negative films, but yields a monochrome result. The result can vary depending on the emulsion of the lab. All of these shots were prepared from scans of the negatives and very little or no adjustment was made to the color balance after scanning.
